Yet another anti-art thief club?

Yes, folks, the problem is THAT WIDESPREAD.

We're not anonymous. We tell you who we are.

welcome to DeviantArt Patrol. we are a loosely knit team of individuals with one common goal: to report art theft on dA, and as a place for members to commune and gather resources for identifying art theft, for offenders, and for reformed offenders.

We are not flamers. We are not trolls.

We DO give you verbal warnings. How you choose to respond dictates how we choose to handle your case.

We are proud when we can convince you to turn around and draw on your own.
We are sad when you decide to flag us as spam, dismiss and curse at us and keep "your" art up.
We are never angry at you.

Each Patroller and Deputies are trusted to use Verbal Warnings correctly and in a calm fashion. Then, if the case is truly lost, to turn it towards the proper authorities. We are Sheriffs, not Vigilantes.



We will report. We will have proof.

Our MO is to inform the offender and report directly to the dA admins if the thief is unrepentant, we are NOT out to shame anyone in public. we will watch the art thieves dig their own graves, and document everything for the admins so they can ban their thieving asses, even if the offender tries to hide incriminating comments or block us to hide shame. We will not resort to rule breaking to bring offenders down. If the thieves repent then we will go on our merry way and leave them be.



Rules for members
thou shalt not harass the art thief unnecessarily

thou shalt always be certain before accusing. questioning the source to the deviant is okay if you are not sure.

thou shalt use polite, unthreatening language in confronting the thief, (threats to report or threats da may ban them ok, since they should know that.)

thou shalt gather evidence quietly (screencaps! save comments!) and report through official channels

thou shalt search for theft source if possible. manga panels may be hard to find but citing which manga may be useful in report. Google Image Search [link] is your friend for sources. da search useful as well.

thou shalt encourage the offender to reform before they are banned.

thou shalt welcome the reformed thief with open arms

IF ONE OF OUR MEMBERS IS HARASSING YOU UNJUSTLY, REPORT IT TO A MAIN PATROL MEMBER, WE WILL TAKE CARE OF IT FOR YOU. OUR AIM IS TO GET THE OFFENDING ART REMOVED, NOT TO SCARE YOU. POINTING OUT YOU STOLE IS NOT HARASSMENT. WE ALWAYS HAVE EVIDENCE TO BACK UP A CLAIM. THREATS TO YOUR PERSON, RESIDENCE AND PROPERTY, AND ACCOUNT HACKS ARE HARASSMENT AND NOT ALLOWED!
